DAILY WARM-UP SKETCH 2013

I went to see "A Good Day to Die Hard" over the weekend, and before the movie started, I sketched this version of what I imagined Bruce Willis looked like:



Then after seeing it, I sketched this version of what I remembered him looking like:



And today I sketched this version of what he looks like from one of the movie posters online:

Peter, that's quite a good likeness.

Based on those drawings, Bruce Willis and I could be twins! I always new I had matinee idol looks!

That's really cool, Peter. There's all this very loose, almost random penwork and somehow a really good likeness of Bruce Willis surfaces from it.
Ted, does this mean you have scribbles all over your face too?!

Drifted away from drawing to concentrate on my writing but the itch is coming back (in a good way)

I should be back on a regular schedule Monday. No scheduled paying work until Fall. Going to try and do a daily sketch. Anyone care to join me?

following up on my WIP, pencil stage about 95% done. Need to correct a few things in the inking phase

Erick, are these figure studies of the character you had the copyright question about? Really nice work there, I think
the best thing you can do is to get into print, securing your visuals copyright.
I'm starting to see more resemblance there, Hunter. I was woefully hungover yesterday and he definitely looks like I
felt. When I get the finished piece, I'll put it up where it can remind me of the benefits of moderation!

it's rough getting back into a routine, even rougher trying to do decent warm-up sketches

my wife keeps saying I should take more time off but it takes too long to get back up to speed when i do get back to work

one of the many problems of getting old and being an artist

So where are the sketches?

so far this week they've all ended up in the trash  

It was a pretty busy summer, and I'm just now getting back to my illustration projects, which are all now way behind schedule.

I'm trying to finish a piece for a charity anthology, which is about a third of the way done already, but for the next few weeks in an effort to get back on a regular schedule and get all the preliminary character designs and whatnot all completed, the morning warm-ups will all be characters and elements for the funny animal comic strip I'm developing.
