I like Pacific Rim well enough, but Lone Ranger is much more enjoyable. We struggled to find a non-3D viewing of Pacific Rim too, but it was well worth it. Stoopid 3D.

Joe, I like that term "fakelore."  I thought the new Lone Ranger movie was especially good at walking a line there, acknowledging that this stuff was not realistic, but still on some level really cool and fun. It may not have been real indian magic, but it was real MOVIE magic.

I agree it wasn't as enjoyable as The Lone Ranger.

As much as I wanted to love it, I found much of the movie hauntingly derivative. Every moment seemed borrowed from another film. Even the the climax was straight from the Avengers. There were a few cute moments but mostly I found it very much unsatisfying.

I should have seen The Lone Ranger again.
