Why didn't the Fantastic Four movies get any of this Star Wars bigness?

The GOTG stuff looks fun. But yeah, where was this production crew when the idiot director of the FF movie said a forty foot tall purple guy was silly, let Galactus be a cloud.

It's kind of a shame they have so much cosmic character goodness to choose from and so many unique villains and awesome cosmic concepts to choose from and they go with Thanos, the one villain who most resembles DC's top villain. Isnt that sort of like putting the Black Cat in a Spiderman movie?
