| It's not my Guardians, but it's not bugging me at all. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but it's based on the more recent comic revamp, which I admit I haven't read yet but it seems to me this version isn't so much a revamp as just a different group of Marvel characters with the same group name set more in present day. Which is way better than what's going on with Ant Man. Everyone in it is a beloved obscure Marvel character. Just as beloved if not more so than the old Guardians I remember from the 70/80's, which does no seem to be getting disrespected at all by this version. And (UNLIKE SHIELD) it's seems to be filled with a huge amount of other marvel characters and concepts. Plus I really liked the trailer. Seems to be kinda funny, a sort of Firefly-ish take on a more alien filled sci-fi movie like Star Wars, without looking like a Muppets in Space movie. This I'm looking forward to, unlike Ant Man which is really worrisome. http://insidemovies.ew.com/2014/02/21/rocket-raccoon-voice-guardians-of-the-galaxy/ | |

| They do seem to be doing right by the Guardians flick, but then to get that awful integrity taste out of their collective mouths, they cast the new Fantastic Four: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv-movies/fantastic-cast-revealed-article-1.1621005 Honestly, they are probably not deliberately trying to provoke long time fans, but it doesn't seem much of a concern either. Has Marvel, and DC as well, just come to believe their characters are merely concepts and they are infinitely flexible open to practically any interpretation? | |

| I hope GOTG is fun and good. I have no particular feeling about the current comics it is based on, no great love for them, but no special disdain either. The slightly sarcastic vibe of the trailer seems accurate enough. | |

| In line with GotG being potentially a fun movie, the characters seem virtually made for merchandising, especially Bill Mantlo's creation Rocket Raccoon. | |

I think in this case, to be fair, Marvel isn't in control of the FF at the moment, FOX is. So any mistakes on a FF reboot are not Marvel's. (if someone has the time please comfirm/correct me here), But I'm pretty sure, 20th Century Fox currently has the rights to several Marvel properties... X-men (And Wolverine, Deadpool etc...) Fantastic Four (and Silver Surfer) And at one point they had Daredevil, & Elektra but I think they might have reverted back to Marvel. Sony has Spiderman and Ghost Rider, (and Venom, Morbius, Black Cat, Carnage etc...) Lion's Gate has Punisher (and I think Man-thing?) And Blade, was at New Line, that may have ended. I'm not sure. And I'm not sure but I thought I read somewhere Universal has the rights to Namor/Submariner. I know there was some sort of territorial war trying to figure out who had the rights to Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch (Whedon wanted them for Avengers2 and Fox Wanted them for X-men days of future past.)

| You are exactly right, Joe that Fox currently owns the movie rights to the FF. So, the responsibility lies with them. But, the point remains that they could produce a faithful adaptation, they merely choose to go in a different direction. For me it means that the Fox Powers-That-Be don't really don't have much faith in the marketability of the original source material. I would've piggy backed on the success of the recent blockbuster Marvel Universe movies myself, perhaps looking down the line to reselling the rights instead of poisoning the well. Of course, the new FF movie might turn into a cash cow spawning its own franchise! In which case the carping of a few beleaguered comics fans will mean even less than it does now. Can't complain too much though, GOTG looks good and the first Captain America movie is on FX this Wednesday, so I'll finally see it! | |

Totally agree! Though i would completely not care about any casting issues if they do end up taking a cue from the Avengers etc, and try to go closer to the source material story wise and character wise. Even if it was only half as reluctant to embrace the source material as the last too FF movies. I would settle for a twenty foot tall Galactus I'm not sure what the casting issues are. Johnny and Sue could still be related and Ben will be in a suit or cgi most of the time. But i could be wrong im only familiar with two of the four actors. Mara from House of Cards, and the guy from Chronicle, who could be great as johnny storm

I'll never understand why a big movie studio will pony up the millions to license a property like this and then shy away from randomly selected parts. Because they think it's silly. The FF is Jules Verne and Star Wars. That's why Star Trek Enterprise failed. It should have been equal parts the Right Stuff, Apollo 13, Lost in Space and the Jetsons, all through a Start Trek lens. - Joe Lee wrote:

Speaking of Star Trek, they found a way to make a twenty foot alien work, in the episode "Who Mourns for Adonais?" Apollo had powers like Galactus too.

| Hah, I think I'm one of the very few who liked Star Trek Enterprise. I have to admit they had long since reached the point of diminishing returns with the franchise though.
I have no problem with the actors cast for the FF roles. Others who are more familiar with them seem to think they are all good 'B' list actors maybe even on the verge of super stardom. As long as they retain the family dynamic that is at the core of the FF, and that's open to a lot of interpretations itself like the supremely weird FF miniseries, Unstable Molecules. The Marvel Universe is an incredible playground and the FF were there from the beginning, a cosmic ray altered mind is a terrible thing to waste!
I think even a 20 foot Galactus would have me testing the absorption qualities of my costume made of unstable molecules.
