I was playing hookey, out working on the front yard. My next door neighbor just came back from a matinee of IM3 and says its awesome.

His call was it's the best of all three. As cool as any of the bat/nolan films but with all the fun of the first iron man and avengers combined.

Robert Downey Jr.'s dual series Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes have been never-miss, Sir Ben Kingsley can only up the ante. Thing is, I haven't seen the Avengers yet. I know, I know. This isn't in any way tightly connected continuity wise, is it?

I saw Iron Man 3 today and loved it. A surprising amount of fanfolks seem very upset about a certain aspect of it -I won't spoil anything here though. Overall a really great movie that delves deep into the character of Tony Stark and is full of memorable moments and classic Shane Black dialogue.

I wouldn't say it's necessary to have seen The Avengers, Iron Man 3 has it's own story, but I'd still highly recommend it. Aside from being a great fun movie, there is some important character stuff that carries over from The Avengers into Iron Man 3. It won't ruin the movie or anything if you watch IM3 first, but I'd definitely suggest seeing the films in order.

Thanks, Jimbo! But I doubt I'll be able to resist for long, just have to put some of the pieces together later.

i really felt that the Avengers seemed more like an Ironman movie than a meeting of three franchises. Especially since the supporting cast like Fury, Coulson and the Black Widow allready had a lot of screen time in the Iron Man films. Pepper was there, Thor only had a picture of his girlfriend. Hulk and Cap had no supporting cast on the film. Cap didn't have any anyway but you know what i mean. Thor had two characters with him but there never seemed a real ownership of them. His and Caps status quos haven't yet been established. And i have feeling Captain America 2 is going to be using SHIELD as caps backdrop, so nothing much there to differentiate it from the Avengers.

It was more like Ironman and his amazing friends! Or MTU starring Ironman...

I bet the contract negotiations are going to be a blast for Downey and Paltrow, especially if this one does well. Paltrow is already saying no to a fourth one.

There are specific things that bothered me about it, but I enjoyed it, overall. The action scenes wre impressive. Loved some things, thought it could have been stronger, narrative-wise. Kingsley showed his range as an actor, GLORIOUSLY.

Can't really say what bothered me without getting all 'spoiler-y'. Liked Iron Man 1, Avengers & Captain America more, Iron Man 2 and Thor about the same. Liked The Incredible Hulk less, but didn't hate it.

I enjoyed it too, but with some reservations. It was a great example of character deconstruction, and I was both entertained and annoyed at how they used the Mandarin. And I was both entertained and annoyed at how much time was spent away from characters not introduced in the earlier films. The framing device narrator was annoying. It was a very long movie but it was never boring. I'd go further, maybe someone should start a Discussion group with spoilers.

There's a great comparison between Iron Man 3 and a certain Pixar film, essentially they make a great argument for IM3's plot being completely ripped off from The Incredibles. It totally makes sense...
