I just heard from the local news here in Ohio, that Captàin America 2 will be filming in Cleveland. This will be the second Marvel film shot here, many of the huge battle scenes in the The Avengers were shot here.

A friend of ours saw Sam Jackson at a club downtiwn too.

Not sure about the Shwarma.

That's pretty cool, Joe, I imagine local news will cover some of the film's progress. Cleveland's a large city, but this is still kind of a big deal there, isn't it?

If they had a call out for extras for crowd scenes, would you try out? Maybe they don't do that anymore though. With CGI you can multiply twenty people into a huge crowd easily.

Oh yeah, when they were shooting the Avengers it was on the news every night. There wer people saying it brought anywhere from 25 to 90 million dollars in spending.

It wasnt just the crowds that were cgi enhanced, the whole city was. It was cool seeing public square substitute as germany and so much of downtown was pretty recognizable in close ups in the big fight scenes at the end, I worked downtown many years ago and was pretty familiar with the buildings so it was really cool watching the movie. I didn't try out for any extra calls, I was too busy but I don't think i would have the guts or patience, I heard that it was a lot of standing around.

That's cool! A lot of New York landmarks must have been CGIed in, then, like Grand Central Terminal and the Chrysler Building.

We had Grown-Ups 2 filming in Marblehead, the next town over, this summer. There was a lot of excitement about that too.

Tallahassee has just one mid level box office flick to its credit, 'Something Wild'. It was filmed about 25 years ago and until recently, the local extras got together for an annual reunion/party. I know a couple of the guys who were in crowd scenes, they were driving taxis at the time and, yeah, they say it mostly hours and hours of standing around. One guy kept his Screen Actors Guild card active for years, I guess in hopes of Something Wild II. It never happened, but even that little bit of limelight got in his blood.

Something Wild did make use of extras extremely well. In fact, wasn't that like director Jonathan Demme's trademark for a while, the way he filled every portion of the screen with life and activity quite apart from what the lead actors were doing? So, good to hear that the extras knew they had been a part of something worth remembering.
