A Princess of Mars (Illustrated Classics): A Graphic Novel

I just picked this up a few weeks back at my LCS, and just started reading it last night, never heard of it or anyone involved, it was adapted by Ian Edginton, with art by I.N.J. Culbard. It seems to be a pretty straight forward, adaptation, and I picked it up because I'm a sucker for anything ERB, to be sure but the art had a sort of Mike Allred quality, and the character designs, specifically the green Martians, had a complexity and sophistication despite the simplicity of the art.

Anyone else get this? Maybe we could do a review for the blog.

Ian Culbard is the artist on The New Deadwardians, for Vertigo. Imagine vampires and zombies on Downton Abbey. Should be a trade collection coming out soon.

I'm posting a series on Alex's site Poplitiko about A Princess of Mars, Edgar Rice Burrough's classic planetary romance which defined the genre and, although Disney did its best to keep people from knowing about it, was made into a movie last year.

That sounded interesting with that Jane Austen book. That started out ok, had a few funny moments but was ultimately nothing of any significance.
